DMC’s Torpedo Recovery System

4 min

Two identical and fully electric winches, also known as a torpedo recovery system, designed and tested to pull the heaviest torpedoes from the bottom of the ocean. A unique feature of this configuration is tension control, which calculates the right amount of force (torque) that is necessary to pull a torpedo to the surface. This is also called heave compensating: a technique used on lifting equipment to reduce the influence of waves.

Fail-safe and redundant are two important characteristics of this configuration, which are also the requirements for the Multi-role Aviation Training Vessel (94 x 14 m) were it will soon be installed.
