In fishing, all systems serve to efficiently perform tasks under the most challenging conditions. That’s why, for example, the unique flap mechanism of our Barke® rudder is fully enclosed, providing a wear-resistant system that prevents pollution and contact with floating objects or ice. Within our wide range of products, this rudder is ideally suited for fishing.

In addition, the Master profile (‘fishtail’) is also very popular, because it is directly linked to a lower speed and high manoeuvrability sailing profile.

Nozzles for every catch

Our range of nozzles includes the Optima, which is praised industrywide for its unmatched blend of thrust, performance and noise and vibration reduction. Thanks to L/D ratios of 0.4 to 0.6, the Optima is very versatile and ideal for fishing vessels.

Save energy
In terms of energy saving, DMC has developed thrust and stator fins. The pre-swirl stator fins applied to the nozzle ensure optimal water flow towards the propeller. The post-swirl thrust fins applied to the rudders reduce energy loss by diverting water rotation away from the propeller. Both features fit perfectly with the sailing profile that fishermen know so well.

Specifically for fishing, DMC offers a lower rudder bearing support that significantly improves rudder performance. It reduces the load on the lower bearing and protects the propeller from fishing nets. With bearing support, a rudder can be designed with a slim profile, which is ideal for trawling operations.
