'MTS Escaut' equipped with DMC Optima nozzles for improved forward and reverse thrust

JSHT 127, also known as MTS Escaut, has recently been equipped with two Damen Marine Components (DMC) Optima nozzles. This inland tanker is with its dimensions of 135 x 11,45 part of the new MoneyMaker 3.0 series, built by Rensen-Driessen Shipbuilding.

DMC’s Optima nozzle is developed to improve the forward and reverse thrust performance of a ship. In comparison to the well-known standard MARIN profiles, the Optima combines the best of both worlds; it has been developed to allow the propeller to rotate further backwards in the nozzle.

The Optima nozzle has a long and high inlet profile, generating high thrust performances and reducing sound levels and vibrations. Due to the variety in profile lengths, the Optima is suitable for many different vessel types, especially for ships that combine relatively high-power outputs with challenging sailing conditions.

Next to the nozzles, we will supply MTS Escaut with a complete manoeuvring package including a 4-rudder-system type Van der Velden® HD, a Van der Velden® 4DWKK steering system and an SP2700 control system.
