BOSS™ Bearing Clearance Measurement (BCM) measures and displays the physical wear of the rudder carrier and neck bearings down to a single millimetre. This precision gives vessel managers plenty of warning of the risk of the bearing seizing up at some point in the future. The measurements are done by electrical wires (sensors) that measure the real-time distance between de rudder trunk and rudder stock with a 90° offset. The wires are routed inside the rudder trunk and shielded by protection pipes.

Applying this feature reduces the risk of bearing damages to an absolute minimum. BCM is one of the essential applications to avoid open up inspections. Suitable for all ship types with a rudder system.
