From Water to Space

MN Colibri (116 x 20 m) is an exceptional vessel. It was specifically built to transport launcher components for the Ariane 5 and Soyuz heavy-lift space launch vehicles. In 2021, it transported the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) from the United States to French Guiana, where it was safely delivered to the Guiana Space Centre. The JWST is currently the largest optical telescope in space, conducting ground-breaking infrared astronomy.

During its build in 2000, this Ro-Ro cargo vessel was equipped with two of our Barke rudders, which is a closed linkage flap type rudder. Recently, MN Colibri was in dry dock for a planned inspection, during which our service department did a successful check-up of the rudders to ensure their performance for many years to come.

Glad to have served you once more, MN Colibri. Safe and prosperous voyages.
