Damen Marine Components (DMC) supplies reliable steering systems and rudders for naval vessels, keeping an eye on commonality of parts and systems. We deliver manoeuvring systems for dozens of naval ships worldwide, from Canada to Australia, from Italy to the Netherlands and from Germany to Brazil. The reasons navies worldwide trust us can not only be found in the reliable military-grade equipment we design and deliver, but also in the fact that we comply with national and international requirements.

Shock proof manoeuvring systems

  • ILS support and offset

In addition, we provide advanced ILS support and are often the preferred partner for offset agreements, compensation orders or IRB obligations. Together with various government agencies, including the French, Australian and Mexican navies, we work on exceptional projects to ensure that all requirements for attack craft, defensive vessels and other surface combatants or auxiliary ships are met. Special Defence Projects: DMC is often at the forefront when it comes to delivering specialist, custom-made, one-off projects. Consider the order to develop and produce the rudders for the four F126 frigates that Damen Naval is building for the German Navy. Our partner Damen Shipyards Group, together with the Dutch naval building cluster, has worked on Air Defence and Command Frigates (ADCF), Sigma frigates and corvettes, Offshore Patrol Vessels, Landing Platform Docks, Joint Support Ships, logistic support vessels and hydrographic vessels. Each of these ships are equipped with rudders designed to withstand extreme shocks and improve the vessels’ hydrodynamic properties.

  • Submersible Handling System

Furthermore, DMC has also developed a winch system for a naval research vessel that can retrieve heavy items from the bottom of the ocean. The Submersible Handling System operates with regenerative energy, which means the energy that is released during operation is absorbed back into the system to be used again.
