Marine Components heeft een belangrijke bijdrage geleverd aan tien schepen voor de Ierse rederij Arklow Shipping waarvan de laatste, de Arklow Artist, binnen afzienbare tijd in de vaart komt. Om hoge liftkrachten te kunnen genereren, zijn de schepen uitgerust met Master-roeren en Barke\u00ae high-lift flaproeren.<\/strong><\/p>\n

De Arklow Artist wordt momenteel afgebouwd bij scheepswerf Ferus Smit in Westerbroek. Dit schip maakt deel uit van de 8.500DWT-serie van Arklow Shipping. De eerste vijf schepen uit deze serie, de Arklow Abbey, Accord, Ace, Archer en Arrow, zijn inmiddels in de vaart. Dat geldt ook voor de 16.500DWT-serie, die bestaat uit vier schepen: de Arklow Wave, Wind, Willow en Wood.[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”426″ image_size=”full” animation_type=”entrance” animation=”None” animation_movement_type=”transform_y” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”center” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][vc_column_text]In eerste instantie zouden beide series worden uitgerust met NXA-visstaartroeren. Arklow Shipping, met vestigingen in Arklow (Ierland) en Rotterdam, vroeg haar kapiteins en superintendents om feedback en daaruit bleek dat er een sterke behoefte was aan de mogelijkheid tot \u2018crabbing\u2019, het vermogen van een schip om zijwaarts te bewegen zonder zich vooruit te verplaatsen. \u201cEen begrijpelijke wens\u201d, aldus Marnix de Bruijn, Sales Manager van Damen Marine Components. \u201cZeker de schepen uit de 8.500DWT-serie hebben veel zijwaartse verplaatsingen nodig, omdat deze van haven naar haven pendelen en veel moeten manoeuvreren.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damen Marine Components heeft die wens uit de praktijk overgenomen: in overleg met de directie van Arklow Shipping<\/a> en Ferus Smit is ervoor gekozen om de NXA-roeren uit het oorspronkelijke ontwerp te vervangen. De 8.500DWT-serie heeft daarom Barke\u00ae high-lift flaproeren gekregen. Met de progressieve roterende flap genereert het Barke\u00ae-roer hoge liftkrachten bij grote roerhoeken en lage weerstand bij kleine roerhoeken. Dit helpt bij het zijwaarts verplaatsen.[\/vc_column_text][image_with_animation image_url=”425″ image_size=”full” animation_type=”entrance” animation=”None” animation_movement_type=”transform_y” hover_animation=”none” alignment=”center” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” image_loading=”default” max_width=”100%” max_width_mobile=”default”][vc_column_text]Omdat vanwege de levertijd van de Barke\u00ae-roeren hiervoor de tijd ontbrak bij de 16.500DWT-serie, is voor deze serie gezocht naar het beste alternatief. Deze vier schepen hebben Master-roeren gekregen. Met roerhoeken tot 65\u00b0 zorgt dit visstaartroer voor een hoge lift. Het ontwerp kan worden geoptimaliseerd voor veel verschillende soorten schepen.<\/p>\n

Arklow Shipping is zeer te spreken over de omzetting van de roeren en het gedrag van de schepen, die nu naar grote tevredenheid worden gebruikt.<\/p>\n

Behalve de roeren zijn de tien Arklow-schepen ook uitgerust met het Commander\u2122 Rotary Vane-stuursysteem inclusief hydraulisch aggregaat (HPU) en het besturingssysteem van Damen Marine Components.<\/p>\n

De vier schepen uit de 16.500DWT-serie zijn 145,5 meter lang en 19,25 meter breed. De zes schepen uit de 8.500DWT-serie hebben een lengte van 116,89 meter en een breedte van 14,99 meter. Om hoge liftkrachten te kunnen genereren, zijn de schepen uitgerust met Master-roeren en Barke\u00ae high-lift flaproeren. De Arklow Artist wordt momenteel afgebouwd bij scheepswerf Ferus Smit in Westerbroek. Dit schip maakt deel uit van de 8.500DWT-serie van Arklow Shipping. De eerste vijf schepen uit deze serie, de Arklow Abbey, Accord, Ace, Archer en Arrow, zijn inmiddels in de vaart. Arklow Shipping, met vestigingen in Arklow (Ierland) en Rotterdam, vroeg haar kapiteins en superintendents om feedback en daaruit bleek dat er een sterke behoefte was aan de mogelijkheid tot \u2018crabbing\u2019, het vermogen van een schip om zijwaarts te bewegen zonder zich vooruit te verplaatsen. \u201cEen begrijpelijke wens\u201d, aldus Marnix de Bruijn, Sales Manager van Damen Marine Components. \u201cZeker de schepen uit de 8.500DWT-serie hebben veel zijwaartse verplaatsingen nodig, omdat deze van haven naar haven pendelen en veel moeten manoeuvreren.\u201d Damen Marine Components heeft die wens uit de praktijk overgenomen: in overleg met de directie van Arklow Shipping en Ferus Smit is ervoor gekozen om de NXA-roeren uit het oorspronkelijke ontwerp te vervangen. De 8.500DWT-serie heeft daarom Barke\u00ae high-lift flaproeren gekregen. Met de progressieve roterende flap genereert het Barke\u00ae-roer hoge liftkrachten bij grote roerhoeken en lage weerstand bij kleine roerhoeken.
