Project “Tessa”: three-rudder system
Old technology doesn't have to be outdated! The original Van der Velden® 3-rudder system, designed by Janus van der Velden in 1963 for EU inland vessels, has recently been tested again by DST- Development Centre for Ship Technology and Transport Systems.
For Damen Marine Components it was no surprise that this system still proves to provide the best possible manoeuvring! After many successful years with the 3-rudder system, the market changed with bow thrusters and autopilots. Van der Velden responded to these trends with a 2-rudder system: larger rudders with more profile. Our customer required the ultimate manoeuvring for their new build vessel. The "Tessa" is soon to be outfitted with the Van der Velden® 3-rudder system! Follow the company page to stay updated.
