3x18000 teu Container Ships chartered by CMA CGM

In the beginning of August 2013, an undisclosed owner placed orders for three ultra large container ships with the Chinese CSSC Group, all three being chartered by CMA CGM.

The ships are scheduled to come on stream in the last quarter of 2015. The deal is part of CMA CGM’s efforts to increase its fleet of 18000teu super jumbo vessels from three units to nine.

Design of the Energy Saving Package is carried out by VDV and MMG engineers in Northern Germany with special focus on propulsion efficiency after achieving a very promising tank tests at MARIN, in pre-engineering stage.

The premium quality products will be manufactured in Germany (propeller) and South Korea (rudder).
